Why Run It Back and Archive Are Underrated Right Now
Hello! Summer 21 Series is behind us, two of the biggest highlights from it were Run It Back and WNBA debut, today I’m gonna talk about the first. I see some people being disappointed with the value of the Archive, Vintage Vibes and Run It Back sets, so I decided to write why I think they are underrated right now and maybe it’s a good opportunity to buy, but that’s completely up to you. So here are a few reasons why I love these sets.
1. Some of the best players of all-time
LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade and so many more. Thinking to myself a few months ago when people were saying “wait till Shaq, his moments are gonna be worth thousands”, well you can pick up his moment as cheap as 60$ right now. All 3 of these sets feature some amazing players, not even talking about the WNBA Run It Back set which features the 25 best W players of all time.
2. One day there will be 10k LeBron fans on this site
Or at least I hope so. His Archive moment is his first career game-winner! His Run It Back is his first Cavs moment on the site, and yes, RIB is a bit pricey, not everyone can get it. But his Archive is just 120$, how long until everyone who holds this moment not gonna list it at all. Maybe it’s a little bit optimistic but 10k is not a huge number, same goes for many other moments, players I previously mentioned.
3. Basketball nostalgia
I would not expect any more moments from the 05–06 season ever on Top Shot, right? At least not the full series dedicated to that, NBA history is huge and I’m sure we gonna get so many more moments from different seasons, but this will always define that season. Some great plays in those sets, that I remember watching at the time when my love for basketball was starting. And these are the first-ever, yes, we had a Run It Back before, but Archive is the first common historic set and Vintage Vibes is the first NBA and WNBA mixed set.
4. It must go down before it goes up
If you bought some of these moments early because you were so excited and hyped about it, I feel you and understand your frustrations when you see the value of them go down. Thoughts like “if I waited I could’ve bought more moments for the same money”, I did that too, including these drops, I bought a lot of Archives and WNBA on day 1, completed Vintage Vibes too. But the truth is, it’s always better to wait about 2 months after the drop to buy new moments, been like that forever, they lose new and shiny factors and hit their actual value, while people focus on new things, like S3 and flash challenges. So hopefully it’s only up from here, hopefully!
5. Some of the best moments on site
I kinda mentioned scarcity before, and even tho the Archive set is 61 moments and Run It Back is 50, they still minted to a limited amount, Archive moments are 10k, 12k, and 20k, with RIB being 990. OK, they are not super rare but they are still better than most of S2 and S3, especially with the actual plays in it. And yeah, quality is not the best, but I kinda like it, again, nostalgic. If you can watch these, you know how awesome they are, Vince Dunk, Shaq Alley-Oop, LeBron secret moment and so many more, I think every basketball fan and even just casual collectors will find these moments cool to own!
I hope I made my points well, is the release of these 3 sets were perfect, no, but for me as someone who loves basketball and Top Shot, honestly, it’s amazing to own these and I hope they will get more appreciation over time. Thank you so much for reading and happy collecting!
