NBA Top Shot Weekly Updates (9/27–10/3)
Hello! Welcome to new weekly updates! What a crazy week it’s has been, we have so many things to talk about, I’ll try to keep it fast, short and fun but we’ll see. We have NBA Run It Back announcement, Top Shot Birthday, NFL x Dapper Labs and much more! And also, I know this is a bit late, when I post this it will probably be a late night, crazy day in the Cool Cats community, I got sucked in! Alright, let’s get started!
Packs, Marketplace and Updates
We had one pack drop this week, trade tickets pack. As you might recall from the previous wu, the cost of it was 3 trade tickets and pack consist of 3 S2 base set moments. Also, we had one pack for reservation, a birthday pack, I hope you did your part and reserved one!
The next pack to come is WNBA Best of 2021 common drop 2, it will be the last WNBA common drop of this season and second to last overall with the next pack being WNBA playoffs legendary. This new common pack gonna have 30 new moments, all new players, all Top Shot debuts, the drop is happening on Thursday, so don’t miss it!
OK, let’s quickly recap floor prices before moving on to some very exciting news!
The long-awaited NBA Run It Back is finally coming! We learned this week that the season to be featured ended up being 2005–06! Miami Heat won the championship that year, which makes all sense in the world that Dwayne Wade became cover man for this RIB set! Still more details to come but I’m sure we all can’t wait till it drops in the second half of October!
And like I said before, so many things happen this week, especially on October 1st, Luke aka El Dumbo recapped it all very well in just one tweet! One of my personal standouts is that now you can see prices of the moments in ETH, which is kinda cool!
Challenges
We have 2 challenges currently going, the first is the WNBA challenge when you have to collect 10 any WNBA moments to get the reward of fandom moment with Diamond DeShields! And special TS birthday challenge when you need to collect any 10 TS debut moments for a chance of winning a rare or playoff pack!
Community
Top Shot Birthday! Woohoo! What a fun day it was! So many people in the community were celebrating, on Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Discord. It was so awesome to see so much positivity and good vibes all around! Also as you might have seen Top Shot gave content creators (including me) 30+ packs each to giveaway to the community, which I thought was great and created a lot of good buzz. I don’t really share my blogs in weekly updates but I did a very special blog for TS birthday, so check it out if you missed it! Happy Birthday Top Shot!
Speaking of Top Shot birthday, as I mentioned before a lot of content creators and TS itself did a lot of fun things, I wanna highlight Ballers Blockchain Steve video, he did a very special birthday tribute to Top Shot, and you can even see me in it. Quiet guy in an NBA JAM hoodie!
Another huge piece of news that happened this week is NFL x Dapper Labs or NFL Top Shot or whatever they gonna call it! I’m actually watching Bucs vs Pats right now while writing it. So excited about that, I think it would be amazing to collect your favorite NFL players and moments Top Shot style. And you can already sign up to join the waiting list! Make sure to do that if you haven’t before!
And last but not least, I wanna shout out my friend Aaron Kollar, better known as Rockdawggy! Recently he started his own Twitch channel where he’s hosting really fun basketball/lifestyle/culture/Top Shot streams featuring a bunch of different people from the NFT community! And he hosts a very special edition of Ladies Night, like 5 minutes left, I need to wrap it up. But when you read this it will probably be over, but you can always catch the replay and future streams on his channel!
