NBA Top Shot Weekly Updates (8/30–9/5)
Hello and Happy Labor Day Weekend! Welcome back to the weekly updates! I know I missed the last 2 weeks, I do try to do them every week but sometimes you are just busy or don’t feel well, shout out to all bloggers, YouTubers and streamers who are being consistent, not as easy as it might look. But let’s get back to Top Shot, not the most news filled week but we still have some things to talk about, some I am really excited about, so let’s get into it!
Packs, Marketplace and Updates
No real pack drops this week since last Friday’s first-ever WNBA pack but we did get an airdrop of the WNBA early adopter pack, seems like everyone who held WNBA moment or pack at any moment received one. Inside the pack, there’s only 1 fandom WNBA moment, and of course, I’m keeping it sealed.
Now let’s take a look at the marketplace stats, and usually, I start with the weekly sales volume chart from CryptoSlam, the thing is, the NFT space is really as big as it ever been in the last couple of weeks so Top Shot despite having its regular numbers not even close to the top, still there at the all-time chart, hopefully soon it will get back there on a weekly one too. So let’s better take a look at the market cap from Evaluate.Market.
And the floor prices, now with WNBA additions!
Speaking of WNBA, something I did not get a chance to talk about on last WU, it’s that WNBA is now on Top Shot! Woohoo! So excited about that as a huge WNBA fan, so pumped to collect moments of amazing players like Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and more!
One of the updates we have for this week is that the WNBA collector score was upgraded. At the moment of the release moments were worth just 2 cs points, even tho it was in line with the rest of the Summer 21 series, I thought it wasn’t right that first-ever WNBA moments featuring TS debuts of future Hall of Famers worth that, WNBA deserves better! Happy that so many people came out and supported this on Twitter with me, you guys are the best! TS team heard us and adjusted the collector score, another reason why TS is great, they always trying to become better!
And the last little update we have is that sales history is back on a moment page itself. For the last few months to see it, you had to do an extra click, not anymore, it’s back, February vibes, if you know you know.
Challenges
No NBA challenges this week, we are in the off-season, don’t worry, they will be back before you know it.
But we did had a WNBA challenge/quest. You were needed to collect 5 WNBA moments to get a fandom tier moment of reigning league MVP A’ja Wilson!
Community
Like I said before, it’s was kind of a quiet week, but we still have some cool community stuff. Like this video about trade tickets from Top Shot Talk, remember folks, trade tickets are coming and he’s breaking down everything you need to know about it!
A couple of niche fun stories as well, like this, Top Shot got a mention on TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine! It’s becoming more and more part of pop culture! And remember if you bought Patrick Ewing moment for 1000$, don’t sell it for 8$.
And this little story, about how Steph Curry and Andre Igoudala both bought themselves their first NFT, Ape and a Cool Cat. Just wanted to mention this cause even tho Igoudala does have a Top Shot account, wen Steph?
